The Wassail Tour
We will visit private homes, a two-hundred year-old apple orchard, and the Community Hall of the First Church of Jamaica Plain over the course of the day. Everything is around a ¼ mile from everything else so we’ll have plenty of energy left for dancing. We will process through We will process through the streets of Jamaica Plain and sing at three houses, stopping at each to partake of the largess of our hosts.
At the First Church we will feast upon
two roast turkeys and a ham, plus vegetarian entrées, side dishes and desserts
brought by our revelers.
Then the Boston
Wassail! ® Pick - Up Band will play for an impromptu english
country -
contra - two step - céilí
- swing dance. The rest of the evening will include
singing, more eating, schmoozing, a mummers play, sword dancing, and the
presentation of the steaming frothy bowl of Wassail!
We will provide treats, hot cider, cocoa, and tea throughout the afternoon. Come at any point during the day or night and stay for as long as you like. There will be special surprises along the way to make each stop on the tour memorable and fun. We suggest that you park near the church, drop off your dancing shoes and your dish for the Feast, and join the party at any one of our four convenient locations.
