To my Partners and Neighbors (and Shadows),
I love our dances: Every month it makes me happy to see you again and catch up with you.
Contra dancing is one of the few places where people can get together, dance together and sweat together for fun. For nearly a decade, we have been holding gender-free dances at the Center -- always to live music (well, okay, some Techno-contras). And we are also one of the few social events that are alcohol-free.
It's that time of year again, and we are asking for your help to keep our dances going. We are trying hard not to raise the cost of admission -- nobody wants that -- but it's hard to make ends meet.
That is why we need your help. Maybe you can make a tax-deductible donation (details below). Maybe you would be able to sponsor a band for one of the dances ($300) or the caller ($100). Maybe you have an idea for fundraising or letting the world know about our dance.
Any help you could give us would be great. You already make our dance special; you can keep it going strong. Can we count on you?

PS: For a tax deduction you can write a check to:
(our 501(c)(3) umbrella organization) with "NYC Gender-Free Contra Dance" in the memo line.
You can drop it off at the door or mail it directly to:

Cash is also welcome, but will not give you the tax deduction.
