Western Mass Welcome Message

September 2016

Greetings!

We look forward to seeing you at the Montague Community Hall (formerly Montague Grange) as we begin our 26th season of Gender Role-Free Contra Dancing for LGBTIQA folks and friends!  This year’s dance schedule is attached.

NEWS:

OUR FIRST DANCE OF THE SEASON:

Our 2016-2017 all-level/beginner friendly dance season takes place on September 17th. The dance will begin at 7PM.  The cost remains $10-$7 sliding scale, Student with ID $5.

Snacks: Snacks are provided by dancers; feel free to bring something tasty to share.

Help make it happen: Between dances, spread the word, post flyers for upcoming dances, bring your friends, post dance information on Facebook and other social media. Feel free to forward this letter to lists or individuals who might like to join us.  If you know of other ways/ venues to get the word out, feel free to let us know, or pass the word on. At the dances, please help out with set-up, clean-up, sitting at the door collecting money, and welcoming new dancers. Occasionally, out-of town dancers need housing after a dance and you can volunteer to host.  We welcome those dancers with limitation due to balance, dizziness, or stamina when dancing, but the grange is not wheelchair accessible.

$$: Each dance costs close to $400 to put on, and we could use more finds to continue to have great callers, live music, and welcoming dance setting with its wooden floor.  Along with spreading the word and bringing “fresh feet” to join us, please consider donating extra cash at the dances or making a designated tax-deductible contribution to Western Mass LCFD.  You can send a check made out to LCFD, c/o John Gintell, 9 West St., Cambridge, MA 02139.

Weather Cancellations: We almost never cancel dances.  If weather or other unforeseen circumstances should warrant cancellation, we will send out an email notice in advance, and you may phone our contact people as well.  Add your email address to the list at the welcoming table.  Check out www.lcfd.org for more dance information.

We are not sending out hard copy newsletters this year, but if you know of anyone needing to receive one please let us know.

All best wishes until we see you on the dance floor,

Arlene, Judy, Dave, David, John, Michael, Mary, Dee
