About Pinewoods Camp

We are excited to be holding spring camp at Pinewoods Camp, a facility designed and operated specifically for dancers, singers, and musicians.

Pinewoods is a very popular venue, and we expect that it will be a significant draw for new campers. We may reach our full capacity and need to have a waitlist, so we strongly encourage you to register early. Cancellations are fully refundable through May 15.

While camp at Pinewoods will be similar in many ways to our previous camps, there will also be some important differences:

What to Bring
We urge you to visit Pinewoods' website to review their lists of what they provide and what you should bring.

Housing
Sleeping accommodations are in a variety of cabins and houses scattered among the pine trees. Most are two-person cabins, with toilets and hot showers a short walk away. A few rooms hold three or four people, but there are no large bunkhouses.
Cabins are not heated, but all have electricity. Rooms are furnished with single beds, a pillow, a chair, a lamp, and a closet or dresser. Twin sheets will fit single beds, while queen sheets will fit over two beds pushed together. For extra comfort, consider bringing a Thermarest or mattress topper (camp mattresses are thin), and depending on the weather, an extra blanket and/or fan.

Food
Meals at Pinewoods are homemade and delicious. Breakfast is served cafeteria style, while lunch and dinner are served family style, with food on the tables when you arrive. The kitchen makes excellent accommodation for special dietary needs — just tell us when you register. There are also a few refrigerators for storing special foods or medications you may need.

Jobs
We believe camp runs best when everyone contributes to making it a success! This year, in conjunction with our new sliding scale for camp fees, we're doing away with Work Exchange. Instead, every camper will have a small job to do, such as sweeping the dance floors, setting or clearing tables for meals, or washing dishes. Most jobs will take no more than 30 minutes a day.

Dance Pavilions
Dancing will take place in purpose-built open-air pavilions. You will need to bring separate shoes for dancing and for walking around camp.

Ticks
Pinewoods is in the woods, and unfortunately June is prime tick season. Remember to stay on the paths, and do a tick check daily. You may also choose to use insect repellents and/or treat your clothing, particularly socks and pants, with permethrin.

Ponds
Pinewoods sits between two beautiful ponds, and there are boats to borrow. June is on the early side of things for swimming, but why not bring a swimsuit and extra towel just in case?
