Information

We want all campers, staff, and crew to stay safe and healthy at camp. The following requirements have been developed in close consultation with Pinewoods Camp, and may change as circumstances require.

Vaccination
All camp participants over 6 months of age must be vaccinated with at least the original COVID-19 vaccine series, with a preference for the most recent bivalent vaccine, if eligible. You will be asked to submit a picture of your vaccination card in advance. If you have a medical exemption, please contact camp@lcfd.org.

Testing
  • Everyone coming to camp is strongly encouraged, but not required, to self-test 24 hours before arrival.
  • On arrival, everyone must take a rapid antigen test, or show documentation of a negative test taken within the previous three hours.
  • Everyone must take an additional rapid antigen test before dinner on Saturday.

Campers are expected to supply their own tests, but if doing so presents a financial burden, we will have some extras you can use.

Anyone who tests positive on arrival, along with any travel companions who have not worn a high-filtration mask while traveling, will be asked to return home.

Masking
Well-fitting, high-filtration masks (N95, KN95, KF94, or equivalent) are required through Saturday dinner inside camp buildings and dance pavilions, as well as crowded outdoor spaces, except while eating or drinking. If all participants test negative before Saturday dinner, the masking requirement will be lifted and masks will become optional.

Campers may be asked by Pinewoods crew to wear masks while working camper jobs in the kitchen or dining hall even after the masking requirement has been lifted.

In the week prior to arriving at camp, we kindly ask incoming campers to wear high-filtration masks in indoor public areas and in gatherings with any people who aren’t in their households.

Positive COVID Cases
LCFD and Pinewoods camp are committed to taking necessary precautions to create a safe environment for everyone. Despite our best efforts, camp participants may develop symptoms of COVID-19 or test positive for COVID-19 while at camp. If that happens, we will take the following steps:
  • Symptomatic individuals will be asked to quarantine in their cabin and take a rapid antigen test. If the test is negative, the individual may be asked to take a NAAT test or go off site for a rapid PCR test.
  • If all tests are negative the person may return to camp and regular camp activities but, as long as they remain symptomatic, should wear a high-filtration mask when interacting with others inside and outside when not able to maintain 6 feet physical distance. They should eat outside at least 6’ away from others.
  • Individuals with a positive result will be asked to:
    • Return home if they have transportation and are able to safely drive
    • If they are unable to leave, quarantine (in accordance with CDC guidelines) in a location at camp determined by Pinewoods staff

Should anyone at camp test positive for COVID-19, the LCFD Camp Committee and Pinewoods Executive Committee will confer with public health professionals to determine if the program should be suspended.

Miscellaneous
By attending camp, all participants agree to the Pinewoods Camp COVID-19 Attestation. Anyone not able to say “yes” to each point in the attestation should not attend camp.

LCFD will offer full or partial refunds of camp fees to anyone who needs to leave camp because of COVID-19, depending on individual circumstances.
